Who I Am
The person behind the code.
I'm Cleven G — a CS student from Tanzania with a genuine passion for software engineering and AI. I build things that solve real problems — not just things that look good in a portfolio.
I work across the full backend stack — web apps, REST APIs, database design, and system integrations. If two systems need to talk to each other, I build the bridge. If an old system is slow and painful to use, I fix it.
Lately I'm deep into AI agents — tools that can handle emails, answer customer questions, or run as a virtual assistant, all without a business needing a dedicated tech team behind it.
I learn by building, breaking things, and reading the logs. That's the only way I know how.
What I've Done
Real work. Real clients.
Freelance Developer
Building web apps, APIs, and AI tools for clients — while studying CS full-time.
- Built and deployed web applications used by real customers
- Designed REST APIs to connect systems and enable third-party integrations
- Integrated new tools into existing platforms without breaking what already worked
- Refactored and modernised slow or outdated codebases
- Built AI chatbots and email automation tools for local businesses
- Designed and managed relational databases for performance and reliability
- Maintained clean version control and documentation throughout every project
How I Think
A few thoughts on building software.
“A meeting might explain the rules — a system crash shows you where they break. I don't study failure from a distance; I cause it on purpose.”
“Don't tell me what happens when it breaks. Let me break it and watch the logs tell the honest story.”
“If the meeting outlasts the build, I've already lost context. Ship it, hit the edge cases, learn from the wreckage.”
“Real understanding isn't in the spec doc. It's in the stack trace of a failed deployment at 2 AM.”
My Machines
The real MVPs behind the code.
The Road Warrior
Dell Latitude
My go-to machine on the move. Running Kali Linux as a daily driver — yes, I like to live dangerously. Armed with 8GB RAM and an HDD, it has survived late-night coding sessions, countless Django migrations, and more than a few bad ideas. Still hasn't given up. Respect.
The Powerhouse
Dell OptiPlex 5050 SFF
The desktop beast — an OptiPlex 5050 SFF running an Intel Core i5-6500. This is where serious work happens. Running Linux Mint, because after Kali on the laptop all day, sometimes you just want things to work normally. It handles database servers, AI experiments, and 47 open browser tabs without a complaint. Proof that you don't need the latest hardware to ship great software.
